Answers:
Why do colleges care about my SAT score?
The SAT exam is not only a test of mental aptitude; it also shows motivation, self-sacrifice, and initiative. If you do well on the SAT, it may be because you have always had good study habits, or it may be because you put forth a great effort. Either way, universities want their students to have those qualities because it means that you have what it takes to graduate. High drop-out levels reflects very poorly on a university, and the school loses prestige as a result.

What score do I need to get into the college I want?

There are several factors that universities consider when reviewing your application. Your High School Record (class difficulties and grades), your activities/accomplishments, and essays are all important. Below is a rough average of what scores correspond to different universities

Harvard - 2200
Williams - 2125
University of Virginia - 2000
UCLA - 1900
Iowa State - 1825
Ohio State - 1800
DePaul - 1750
Arizona - 1700
University of Indiana - 1650

Good Luck!
